Dance Competition Workshop
January 21, 2008 10:07 PM
This past weekend, the FBC Jazz & Tap Competition Dance Team participated in a 2 day, all day, workshop in Arlington, VA. At the Tremaine Workshop, dancers took Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Rhythm Tap and even a Jazz class from the world renowned choreographer Joe Tremaine himself. Some of his credits include, performing in the Jackie Gleason Show on TV, the Jerry Lewis TV Variety Show, the Carol Burnett Show and as a dancer in the movie version of the musical, "Hello, Dolly!" Some of his past students include award winning choreographer Barry Lather, Hollywood's hottest choreographer, Marguerite Derricks and dancer-singer Paula Abdul. The dancers were also able to audition for scholarships for future conventions/workshops. Only 10 scholarships were awarded in each age division: Junior, Teen, Senior. FBC's own Melissa Snow was awarded one of those scholarships in the Teen division. There were approximately 100 students. The workshop was a wonderful learning experience for the dancers.
