Spring Show Dates
April 01, 2011 01:34 PM
Sat, June 11 & Sun, June 12 @ 2:00 held at James Monroe HS.
Please click to view the Dress Rehearsal Schedule and the Which Night Does My Child Perform? Click Spring Show Call Times to see when you need to be at the school and what to bring.
Here are a couple of answers to questions that you may have...
Why are we holding it at James Monroe High School?
Spotsylvania County School Board changed their request use for outside groups this year. They will not accept requests until 60 day's prior to the event date. With that said, I called James Monroe (Fredericksburg City) right away back in July and got these June dates.... I don't like to gamble. I would still have to wait 1 more week before I could request and then up to another 2 weeks before hearing back from the Spotsy School Board. I was also told that prices would be going up again. I am very happy to have it at James Monroe HS. It seats up to 1,1000 people, plenty of parking, a more central location, a newer facility- lights, sound, stage.
Why are we only having one dress rehearsal night?
That is the only bad thing about having the show at James Monroe. Because of award ceremonies and other school functions, we could not get another date for dress rehearsal, BUT I think I have worked out some things to the best of my ability. I can not put everyone on the stage, but I can get all the little kids on the stage, which I feel is the most important. Then next, I have the advanced dancers but that's because they can stay up late and I do have the school until 10! They also usually have very complicated dances so need to work out some spacing issues. You will also notice that the day of the show we will be able to run through some dances and will even do so during intermission. The nice thing about James Monroe's stage is that it is a bit smaller than Massaponax so we won't have to adjust our dances as much- as anyone who has worked on Spring Ballet or seen our Spring Ballet, (This year it was “Sleeping Beauty&rdquo
we never have a tech/dress rehearsal on the stage for Spring Ballet and yet we always manage to put on a fantastic show!!
Why the change in order of the Spring Show?
Because of the composite floor, I am willing to bring my marley to JM for the Ballet and Modern dancers. Do not fear, we can tap and jazz easily on the floor. (Note: Academy of Ballet, Classical Ballet and M & S all do performances at JM and DO NOT have Marley, but like I said, I am willing to bring it since I have it). This order also makes each Act more even in time.
ACT I (with Marley)
Modern & Lyrical Team
Ballet
Musical Theater
Intermission (pull up Marley)
ACT II (no Marley)
Irish Step
Jazz & Tap & Pom
Here’s to a great show! -Ms Jen
